Governor Missions

Repeatable military missions that tie together rank, experience, mining, penting, Jobbington, preferences, and rerolls.

Overview

The Governor in Aston offers repeatable military missions. He is located around 155,178, with an Advisor for buying favor around 145,203.

You generally need the rank of Sergeant and completion of Kelly and Swamp quest lines before the Governor will work with you. Completing missions grants character experience and military exp; characters with the Mercenary profession can also receive gold, scaling upward with military rank.

Military exp is the rank-progress currency used to raise military rank.

For military rank thresholds and experience alignment advice, see Military Ranks.

Mission Types

Type Objective
PentingKill a required number of demons in the Pentagram areas.
JobbingCollect a required number of Brownie Points from Jobbington. The points do not need to be spent.
MiningMine a required amount of ore in the mines. The ore does not need to be turned in.

Mission Difficulty

Mission difficulty controls task size, price, and reward. Larger missions cost more and ask more of you, but pay more when completed.

Mission size Use
EasySmallest task, lowest cost and payout.
NormalBalanced task size for routine missions.
HardLarger task, higher cost and payout.
ImpossibleLarge task for stronger characters.
InsaneLargest task, highest cost and payout.

Preferences and Rerolls

The Governor mission system lets you steer the kind of work you receive. Set preferences when you want missions to match your current route, then reroll if the offer is not worth running.

Option Effect
Type preferencePrefer Penting, Jobbing, or Mining missions.
Difficulty preferencePrefer the mission size you want to run.
RerollReroll the offered mission if the current type, area, or difficulty does not fit your plans.

Rewards and Scaling

Mission rewards are no longer flat. They scale around your level, rank, mission difficulty, and how closely your character level matches the expected level for your military rank.

Rule Effect
Character levelMission experience scales with your character level.
Military rankMission experience and mission pricing scale with your military rank.
Rank alignmentBeing close to the expected level for your rank gives better rewards. Extreme level/rank mismatches are penalized.
Experience capMission experience is capped at 15% of the experience needed for your next character level.
Hardcore bonusHardcore characters receive 10% extra mission experience. Softcore characters do not receive this bonus.
Rank alignment matters: Governor missions reward characters whose military rank fits their character level. If your character level is far above or far below the expected level for your rank, the mission reward is reduced.

Pricing

Mission pricing scales properly with level, rank, and difficulty. Check the current offer before accepting: a high-difficulty mission at a higher rank costs more than an easy mission at a lower rank, but also carries a better reward if your rank alignment is good.

Practical Advice

  • Keep level and military rank close together for better Governor mission experience and to avoid mismatch penalties.
  • Choose mission types around what you were already planning to do: pents for combat, Jobbington for Brownie Points, or mines for SU and GU farming.
  • Use difficulty preferences to avoid being offered missions that are too small to matter or too expensive to finish efficiently.
  • Reroll missions when the type or difficulty does not match your current route.
  • If you are a Mercenary, Governor missions are also a gold source; higher rank improves the payout.
  • You do not need to spend Jobbington points or turn in mined ore for the related mission objectives.
  • Remember the 15% next-level experience cap; very large missions cannot exceed that character experience ceiling.
